TALBOT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
POLICY CODE- 9.26
EASTON, MD 21601
I. The Board of Education believes that the probability of student success in school is greatly increased by parent understanding and involvement in the educational process. The Board, therefore, encourages parent-teacher conferences to increase parent understanding and involvement. The Board recognizes that the accessibility of parents for conferences is affected by many social forces over which the school system has minimal influence. Teachers are encouraged to communicate with parents via telephone, written communication, and/or by individual or group conferences (when appropriate).
II. All employees have an obligation to communicate in a professional manner. Verbal or written communications done in an unsatisfactory manner should be subject to administrative review and included in the yearly evaluation process, if applicable.
III. Parents are welcome to visit classrooms provided the visit is arranged ahead of time; but instructional time should never be used for parent-teacher conferences. Appointments should be made to conduct parent-teacher conferences before school convenes, after school, or at a time reasonable to the teacher and parent.
