Students entering ninth grade in the academic year 2011 or later, and planning to enter the University of Maryland college system, must earn at least 4 math credits. Three of the four courses must include: Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Students who complete Algebra 2 prior to their final year must complete the four-year mathematics requirement by taking a course or courses that utilize non-trivial algebra. Examples of courses meeting this requirement include Advanced Math Topics, Precalculus, AP Calculus and Statistics.
