Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:
The spring weather has helped inaugurate our fourth quarter of the school year. Reports cards will be issued to students during advisement on Thursday, April 11. Please note that course requests for next school year for students in grades 8-11 will be attached to the report card for your review and approval. I strongly encourage you to contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions about course selection for next year. Please sign the form and return to indicate your approval of the requests, which will allow us to complete the scheduling process.
April 19 is a half-day for students with parent conference time scheduled for the afternoon. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with teachers to get a more in-depth perspective on your child’s progress. I encourage you to contact our staff to schedule a time to meet that day or to schedule a time that is more convenient for you. Our counselors are also available that day to discuss scheduling issues. There will be two opportunities for parents of students in the Class of 2013 to learn more about end of year senior activities. One Thursday, April 18, there will be a session at 7:00 am and another at 5:30 pm in the media center. Please join me for the time that is most convenient for you.
The teachers at SMMHS work hard to meet the needs of all of our students each day. I am pleased to share with you that three of our faculty members have been selected for recognition of their efforts. Congratulations to Ms. Santora and Mr. Kunz who will be recognized by the Special Education Citizen’s Advisory Committee for their commitment to making a “tremendous positive” impact for students. Congratulations as well to Ms. Whited who has been selected as the annual award recipient by the disability Coalition for her efforts on behalf of students with special needs.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
