5th grade student Charlie MacDonald was finally able to ride to school with Sgt. Timms and Raven! Charlie won this at one of CDES’s auctions prior to Covid-19. We hope to bring our auction events back next year!

What a great kid Charlie is!

Some of our 5th grade students participated in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Touchdown School Virtual Event 🏈 sponsored by the NFL and National Dairy Council last week. Chapel District Elementary School is proud to be named a Fuel Up to Play 60 Touchdown School for 2021-2022! 🎉 Thank you to Mrs. Szymanski for serving as our students’ advisor for this awesome program! #cdesstrong #fueluptoplay60

I found this article interesting. Made me wonder what “action outreach project” is.

Efforts to have guest speakers in the classroom are sincerely applauded. Out of curiosity I searched this topic and found these excerpts from a NOAA website enlightening : “Due to overfishing, the abundance of natal populations is much less than historic levels…” and “The most significant threats to Atlantic sturgeon are unintended catch in some commercial fisheries, dams that block access to spawning areas, poor water quality (which harms development of sturgeon offspring), dredging of spawning areas, water withdrawals from rivers, and vessel strikes.” Certainly having healthy habitat (“clean rivers”) is important, but it is but one of multiple concerns mentioned in this website. Hopefully this more complete picture was included for without it we risk teaching children what to think instead of how to think. www.fisheries.noaa.gov/species/atlantic-sturgeon

Remembering and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice today. Without them, we would not be able to enjoy our freedoms. There is NO SCHOOL today in observance of Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Thank you to our incredible cafeteria staff Susan Clark, Julia Harvey, and Beverly Yeatman for serving nutritious breakfast, lunches, and “to go” food bags for our Chapel Cheetahs over this past year. Proud of my ADK sisters! I hope some of our Chapel teachers will be interested in ADK. It is a great group that supports teachers and helps them grow professionally. We also support projects like St. Judes, Kenny Woods’ wells, and more.

We live in a great area😘
