Dear TCPS Staff and Families,

I want to take a moment to address concerns that some may have regarding the changing landscape of immigration laws and enforcement actions.

First and foremost, I want to assure you that our schools remain places of safety, inclusion, and respect for all students, staff, and families. As a district, our priority is to ensure every student can learn, grow, and succeed without fear.  We are committed to providing a welcoming and supportive learning environment for every student regardless of their background or immigration status.

Resources are available to help address any concerns families may have. School Administrators, student services workers, school counselors, and school social workers are ready to support our students and staff. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need support.

The Maryland State Department of Education has provided guidance for schools and families that can be found at this link:

They have  included the following list of organizations that have prepared information about preparing for and responding to immigration enforcement actions:

Locally, we are fortunate to have the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center, which offers comprehensive services and support https://chesmrc.org/.  We will stay abreast of actions or policy changes that may affect our community, and share updates if appropriate.

The strength of our community lies in our unity and compassion for one another. Together, we can ensure that our schools are safe places for all students, staff, and families to feel supported and valued. Thank you for being a part of our school community.
