Job Posting – TCPS Athletic Trainer

Title: Athletic Trainer (Contractual Position)

Where: Easton High School, St. Michaels Middle/High School

Compensation: $40-65 per hour (Estimated up to 15 hours per week during the school year)

Start Date: ASAP

Skills and Responsibilities:Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and best practices involving health and safety of athletics. Demonstrate proficiency in implementation of acute treatment protocols based upon assessment findings. Ability to work with various leaders, athletic coaches, district/county athletic directors, local agencies, students, families and district leaders. Ability to manage multiple tasks on short notice and adjust, as needed. Evaluation and recognition of injuries during practice, training, and competitions. Provide first aid and emergency care such as CPR and AED. Apply protective devices such as tape, bandages, and braces, when needed. Coordinates care with student athlete’s families, coaches, physicians, Athletic Director, and school staff. Maintain a daily treatment log. 

Shall provide coverage for practices, scrimmages, and regular seasons events, and playoffs. Some tournaments, as needed.

Shall follow the return-to-play protocols. Athletes must receive written permission from the Athletic Trainer and from a licensed healthcare provider before students are allowed to resume participation after seeing a medical physician.

Shall ensure all necessary supplies and materials and inventory is updated/current. 

Must hold liability insurance-appropriate professional liability insurance, and will provide a certificate of coverage to the Board.

The above is not exhaustive of the job functions and responsibilities, there will be other aspects of this role related to athletic training.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, from a CAATE (Commission on Accreditation Athletic Training Education) accredited program
  • Master’s degree (preferred) in athletic training, from a CAATE accredited program.

Certifications:

  • National Athletic Training Association (NATA) Board of Certification (in good
    standing)
  • AED and CPR certification
  • Hold a current Maryland Board of Physicians Athletic Training License and Evaluation of Treatment Protocols with Supervising Physician or obtain this license within 60 Days of hire or…
  • Hold a current out-of- state Board of Physicians Athletic Trainer’s License and Evaluation of Treatment Protocols or pending with a Supervising Physician.

Experience:

  • 1 (one) year of experience in athletic training in a high school experience, collegiate, or professional sports. Upon request all references and documentation must be submitted. This is a contracted non-benefited position.
