Superintendent’s Update 12/7/23

12-7 update image

It’s been a very full American Education Week so far! During the Board of Education Work Session on Monday, we discussed the results of the budget survey, began discussing budget priorities, and reviewed projected funding for FY25.

On Tuesday, we held the first of our series of Community Listening Sessions at Chapel District Elementary. It was a terrific opportunity for dialogue, and I want to thank Board President Emily Jackson and everyone who attended for joining me. Please Stay tuned for announcements as we continue this series throughout our district.

This is a short week for TCPS students and staff due to Waterfowl weekend, and yet I continue to be impressed by the engagement and commitment of our team of educators.

This week is National School Psychology Week, when we highlight the important work school psychologists do to help all students thrive. Here at TCPS we have just TWO dedicated individuals in this role: Mrs. Krissy Haddaway and Miss Tara Haddaway, and NO they are NOT related! We are so grateful for their dedication to our students and their families.

I’m recording this week’s update in downtown Easton, where the Waterfowl Festival will take place next week!

Founded in 1971, the Waterfowl Festival celebrates our Eastern Shore heritage while also helping to preserve it. As many as 20,000 visitors will discover the best of local wildlife, nature, art, heritage, food, and fun over the 3-day event. More than $6 million in proceeds from the Festival has been given away through grants for educational, environmental, and conservation projects, as well as scholarships for student volunteers.
